Our Story

Who We Are

πŸ‘₯

The team

Built by people who actually use the Hafilat system

haflatbalanccheck.ae
was built by people who actually use the Hafilat system. Not researchers. Not content agencies. People who have stood at a bus stop in Abu Dhabi, tapped their card, heard an unexpected beep, and had absolutely no idea what just happened.

That confusion is what started this site.

The team behind this website is a group of regular Abu Dhabi residents. Some commute daily. Some use the buses a few times a week. All of them went through the same learning curve when they first started using Hafilat cards, and all of them wished there had been a simple, honest guide to help them through it.

So they built one.

Our Mission

Why Hafilat Balance Check Site Exists

πŸ’‘

The reason

The Hafilat system works well once you understand it

The Hafilat system works well once you understand it. Getting to that point is the hard part.

When the team first started using public transport in Abu Dhabi, the basics were not as straightforward as they should have been. Checking a balance required knowing which app to use, which website to visit, or which machine to approach, and none of that was obvious at first.

Understanding what the different beeps meant during tap-in took some figuring out. Knowing what happens when you forget to tap off and why the maximum fare suddenly appears on your account was something most people only discovered after it happened to them.

⏱️ Cost in time

Those early mistakes cost time.

πŸ’Έ Cost in money

Sometimes they cost money.

Those early mistakes cost time. Sometimes they cost money.

And the answers were never in one place.

This site exists to fix that. Every guide published here comes from real experience. We write about things we have actually done, checked, and tested, not things we read about somewhere else and passed along.

This is worth being clear about

This is worth being clear about

haflatbalanccheck.ae
is a privately owned, independently operated website. It has no connection to any government body or official transport authority. The Department of Transportation has not reviewed this site. The Integrated Transport Centre has not endorsed it. Hafilat and Darb have no involvement with it whatsoever.

When names like “Hafilat” or “Darb” appear on this site, they are there to help you identify the right official services, not to suggest any official relationship. Those names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.

For anything official, topping up your card, disputing a charge, updating your account details, or anything else that requires an actual transaction, please go directly to the official portal at hafilat.darb.ae. That is the only place where official Hafilat services are handled. We are a guide, not a replacement for the real thing.

Our Standards

How We Maintain This Site

πŸ”„

Staying accurate

Keeping information accurate is something we take seriously

Keeping information accurate is something we take seriously. Transport systems change more often than most people expect. Fares get adjusted. Apps get redesigned. Processes that worked one way last year sometimes work differently this year.

πŸ“‹

Regular review

Because of that, we have a regular review process. Guides are checked against current official information on a consistent basis.

✏️

Prompt updates

When something changes, the relevant page gets updated.

πŸ‘‚

Reader feedback

When a reader reaches out to tell us something is no longer correct, we investigate and act on it.

We do not publish information and leave it sitting untouched indefinitely. If a guide on this site is out of date, we want to know about it.

Our Values

Our Editorial Commitment

The guides on this site are written and reviewed by the people who run it. No content is outsourced to writers who have never used a Hafilat card. No guides are produced from second-hand information. Everything goes through a check before it goes live.

🚫 No sponsors

We do not have sponsors. We do not take payments for positive coverage. We do not have commercial relationships with Hafilat, Darb, or any transport authority.

βœ… Real experience only

The only thing that influences what we write is our own experience using the system and feedback from readers who use it too.

This site may display advertisements through Google AdSense to support its running costs. Those advertisements have no influence over the content we publish.
